FM conversion from ratio to semitones

Postby mstsfreak » Wed Nov 13, 2013 11:05 am

I am working on an excelsheet to make the conversion from TX81Z or V50 to Fusion a bit easier. The Yamaha synths work with ratios and the Fusion with semitones. I have a list of what semitones matches what ratio, but is there some kind of mathematical formula for this?

I have found this interesting topic about it on the KVR forum: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=181854

This answers my question. I put the link also here for documentation purposes.

c = 1200.log(R)/log(2)

Here is a table where integer ratios have been converted into accurate oscillator tuning settings: http://www.sonicftp.com/articles/inside ... thesis.pdf
