Good news I emailed Matropiero today to see if he would continue his Fusion project?

He replied " The project is not discontinued... I'm still working on it (slowly, though).

;-) "

The Alliance HD source code on sourceforge is extremely good but unfortunately incomplete. The data model is there but little else. I've built a simple user interface and it seems to read .afp files with a few small fixes to the code.

Has anyone got any more source code for this?

Jesse, if you have a way of contacting the author, could you please ask him if he would zip up everything he has so we can continue it?

A very rough "proof of concept" UI for Alliance HD, as an executable .jar file.

Feedback is welcome. Tested only on MSWindows with Oracle Java 8. On Mac or Linux it will certainly fail to find the Fusion, as the mount points must be different.

Save button is disabled, unfortunately, until I get Jose's updated data model.

If programming skills are needed, I am afraid mine are ancient and were limited to Graphics Basic and Fortran :(

If it's a program to run and test, I am running win7 and will be glad to help.

So it is a program, I will try to jump in and play with it some this weekend :)

Thanks Hadley , perhaps this will help the momentum to pick up a little:)

Maybe Klaus will check this out as well and make some comments :)

I've just downloaded the newly posted FusionEditor.

Hope it's completely supersafe on my computer systems as I'm a bit beta-version shy sometimes, I bet you know why :)

Let's have a quick look under the hood now ...

Hadley, this just a look at the GUI for the future program, correct?

I am Running Win7 Ultimate JAVA 1.8.40

Looks like a good start, I see an IO exception on the Programs folder selector

You may also need a selector for the Tables Folder

Klaus, at this point the program is completely safe. After I enable the save button I will recommend that users keep a recent backup of their fusion.

If you prefer to verify for yourself that the program won't harm your computer it is simple enough to download the source code from

http://alliancehd.sourceforge.net/

And build it yourself with a Java compiler.

Jesse, the program didn't find your fusion, is it plugged in to your PC with a USB cable?

No, my Fusion was not connected to my computer, I thought I could access a Fusion volume on my computer.

So it will only work if your Fusion is connected to your computer, is that right?

At the moment either plug in your fusion or use subst to mimic a drive letter

So if you have c:/tmp/fusioncopy/volume/programs for example, then before running alliancehd, type

Subst f: c:\tmp\fusioncopy

And it will think your fusion is drive f:

In the next build I will make a dialog box that lets you work in a fusion backup directory.

Alright, sounds good.

I have some virtual drives on my computer, I will try setting up one of them to use and see how that works :)

This release adds a couple of options to the "file" menu. One will automatically try to find your Fusion (if you have plugged it in to your pc). The other will let you enter a path to an offline Fusion volume. If your fusion programs are in c:\tmp\Volume\Programs\, then the value to enter is "c:\tmp\" and please don't forget the "\" at the end.

Still completely safe, this only reads the .afp files - it doesn't write anything.

I am still waiting for updates from Jose, but in the meantime if you can imagine a feature you'd like, please draw the UI you imagine on a sheet of paper and upload a photo or scan of it.
