Yeah sure, but If this got in the hands of some evil person, it could be reproduced easily.

I hear you thinking: why and who'd want to reproduce a fusion?

BTW does anyone know what that fist logo with ASE branding stands for on most (if not all) PCBs?

I guess it's possible, but there would still have to be a lot of reverse engineering going on to get at the ROM programmed instructions. My guess is that it would be cheaper just to buy a 2nd hand Fusion rather than devote the endless hours to build a copy.

I view it the same as this. I can call Panasonic and get a service manual for my DVD player, which includes board level circuit diagrams with ID numbers for every diode, resistor, and capacitor. Using that information, I could probably build myself a knockoff. Does that mean Panasonic should be worried about some geek in St Louis with a soldering gun building knockoff Panasonic DVD players? No, they know it's not really worth the effort to build copies.

It would be understandable if they were selling millions of these things (kind of like say, a Nintendo Wii or something) that they would want to make it hard for someone to build a knockoff. But that sort of demand is not there - Keyboard workstations are too much of a niche product (especially one coming from a non-traditional brand) and they know that their sales (or reputation from a flood of knockoffs in the market) wouldn't be threatened by something like this.

That's just my opinion, though.

ASE Kaohsiung builds PCB boards and other electronic components. My guess is that's where Alesis sourced some of their parts.

Does that work anymore?

I called Alesis (now Inmusic Brands). They said no service manual for you! Only for service centers is the Inmusic policy. A dumb policy I might add.

I really want a copy of this thing to maintain my Fusion.
